Medium: Gouache on handmade paper, Dimensions: 6"x 6"

Artist: Rinal Parikh, Title: Black Capped Chickadee

  • Born and brought up in India, Rinals work has been highly influenced by Indian folk art. Her subjects are motivated by her daily routine, memories from her childhood and from nature. Her affinity towards nature's creation developed at a young age, through numerous visits to Nal Sarovar - one of the largest wetland bird sanctuaries in India. Before choosing her subject, she enjoys reading about their anatomy, behavior and fun facts. It helps create intimate connection to her subjects. She often creates very decorative backgrounds filled with flowers and leaves inspired by Madhubani and Kalamkari style and, places her bird or animal in the center. The idea in her paintings is to generate warm, inviting and vibrant vibes with which her audience can relate and create a personal connection.
