Carole Loeffler: "And So it Goes" Project
"And so it goes" is an ongoing body of work made up of 100 sculptural dresses, created over several years. Each dress holds memory and tells the story of a woman, both known and unknown, whose life and labor have shaped history but are often overlooked. In this series, the dress acts as both object and symbol of ideal femininity, while also holding the hidden strength and resilience of women. They invite viewers to slow down and look more closely, to see beyond appearances and recognize the real weight carried beneath the surface. Each dress stands as an offering, shaped by labor, survival, and care, and as a quiet act of hope: a reminder that every woman carries a story, a depth, and a life worthy of being seen and honored.
